NEW 'RECONSTRUCTING BOCCIONI' DOCUMENTARY

Eleven years after the death of Umberto Boccioni in 1916, most of his sculptures were accidentally destroyed. ARDI, in collaboration with Matt Smith, has digitally reconstructed three of these with the help of historical photographs from various exhibitions 1913-1917. The Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art in London exhibited the resulting 3D printouts in late 2019. A newly made documentary shows the process in more detail, and emphasises that the resulting sculptures are not the product of mere approximation, but instead the result of a meticulous process that employs previously untested 3D techniques.
